I'm pretty sure that I have magic; I'm incredible at multi-tasking, not to toot my own horn. I do do many activities at school. For awhile, I've also been working two jobs. And on top of that, I still manage to keep my grades up.
The space on the back of my letterman jacket has been filled up in a year. Most of the letters are for music. I love music and it's even better shared with people that love it as much as I do. I play a few instruments and I'm always open to learning more; music takes effort and dedication, like many people in my bands and choir give. Last year, I had 4 music classes - 3 instrumental and one vocal. They never conflicted, however; most competitions or little gigs we would share, so it was very convenient for the band/choir kids to transition between the two.
Choir and cheerleading never wanted to cooperate, though. My music teacher and my coach were always butting heads and their dates were always overlapping for events. The biggest game of the year is always against Central (not that I know why because we haven't beat them in years), and I remember having to miss it along with about 10 other choir girls. My coach made the Junior Varisty and Varsity cheer together because both squads have the same uniform and she wanted to look as big as Central's Varsity squad. I love to root for my team, even if they aren't very good. It just took me awhile to realize that I wasn't meant to be a cheerleader; some of the girls weren't there to help our team win. They were there for gossip, for drama. And even being the captain my first year and the co-captain my second year, I couldn't piece the squad together.
The whole unity thing didn't really seem to work with my squad and it bothered me, so I tried to find something else to occupy more of my time - I got another job. I discovered my love for money. My money is not complicated and it is only good to me. I found that working made me feel a tad better about my stressful teenage life. But I found it hard to work two jobs with no car!
Juggling all these things has been difficult, and I haven't even talked about school yet. Now school, to me, is much too long. But it wasn't as time consuming as the things that I had to do to do well in school. I'm in a program called Creighton Upward Bound. Basically to stay in the program, you have to complete 2 hours of tutoring; and no, you don't go out and tutor - you are tutored. Then, every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the morning you Saturday Morning Class. Even though it takes up a lot of time, I'm always dedicated to it during the school year.
Last school year, I took on many tasks. I count all of them as successes. Next year, I'll be even more involved, with no lunch period once again. I took on even more music classes and even made Drum Major for the fall. I think that I'll even stick with two jobs, hopefully replacing one though. Even though it's definitely to keep up with it all, I know that my grades won't fall.

On Campus
I wonder how I got anything done this week. I wonder how any of us got anything done. I can only speak for myself, and I had a blast staying on campus!
Okay, the food was not my favorite. I guess I can't complain because our dorm's cafeteria is being remodeled, so the food selection wasn't as varied as it would've been. I'd have to stay I enjoyed breakfast more than any other meal, though.
The R.A.'s were so cool. One taught me to play pool...well, lets just say I'll never be a pool champ! A few went on frequent runs to the Juice Stop around the corner. But the coolest thing they did was dance with us on the last night when they extended our curfew.
You'd think that when you get 4 girls together in a house that there would be drama. It wasn't like that in my suite. I think that our late night talk (which was usually about boys) really made us bond, and I was more than sad to come home at the end of the week.
The best part of the week actually made us sore. I never thought that I'd rock climb, complete obstacles 50 feet in the air, and go down a zip-line. Camp Carol Joy Holling is a place I never knew existed, and I'd love to go again. It'd be fun to work there, but it's much too far away for my taste and gas.
Even though the HPER building is being constructed, I still enjoyed myself. It was the first time I've worked out all summer. Ha. So, I pushed myself to keep going, and I was active for the two hours we were there.
The staff gave us ice cream which I love. And while watching a movie (I chose The Great Debaters, which I had never seen), we had ice popcorn and candy. No, they don't exactly promote healthy eating, but I won't complain!
So, I suppose we actually had to work while we were there...English became difficult to keep up with. I became really bored with my reading, or maybe it was just the environment. I didn't want to miss anything, so I admit I'd rush through the reading, so I could join everyone in the lounge or where they were located.
My partner and I had to meet with our Service Learning kid from the Boys And Girls Club. We helped her make a collage of her dream careers. She wants to be a teacher, an accountant, an artist, a veterinarian, or a doctor. And my job is to later help her figure out what it takes to reach those dreams.
What wasn't so helpful was our library tour. It was probably just me, and the group that I sat with. I couldn't focus and frankly I didn't care. I'm sure that information would have been helpful if I actually did though.
The Mojo Hunt was too helpful either. That was probably because I came a little late from my Service Learning project. It just shocked me that my peers knew so much about the campus, so it probably wasn't helpful because I almost felt left out.
I guess I've learned how to manage my time better, which I honestly never had problem with before my stay on campus. I've always had pride in the way that I manage my time and multi task. But I wouldn't change a thing. I enjoyed almost every minute of my stay.
